Live Act: Courtney Act

They say that nine tenths of a woman’s charm is illusion. Courtney Act is living proof. She has the ability to bring women to their feet and men to their knees, but she’s not like other girls… In fact the American government calls her an Alien Of Extraordinary Ability, Bette Midler has described her as a “sensation” and Chita Rivera says “Immense recognition is on the way”.

Once upon a time, Sydney boy Shane Jenek tried out for Australian Idol. Not quite making the cut he wasn’t discouraged, Shane bent the rules and his gender, returning the next day as Courtney Act, and made it through to the finals. Courtney’s explosive, energetic performing style, coupled with her joyous personality, sent audiences wild and Australia had a new, slightly less conventional, sweetheart. Hot on the high heels of the TV series came the phenomenally successful national arena tour and a record deal with Sony/BMG. After completing a national club tour of 20 dates around North America she set up her new life in West Hollywood. Courtney has been announced as a contestant on the 6th season of Rupaul’s Drag Race which will be premiering on Viacom’s Logo Network in February 2014.

Live Act: Johann Sebastian Bass

Johann Davidus Bass, Johann Martinus Bass and Johann Domenicus Bass were born in the slums of Vienna and Munich between 1725 and 1732. Maternally unrelated, they are said to share the same father. Rumour has it that they are the product of love affairs of a famous composer, which were to this day kept secret by various biographers. Three young men brought together by poverty and artistic necessity, the as-yet unacquainted half-siblings formed an engineering and art collective that was the envy of the international community.

They come from a different century. A time when rococo and wig powder ruled their everyday life. Freed from old necessities Johann Sebastian Bass exercise themselves now in the art of ‘electrococo‘, the fusion of electro pop with a true live-band vibe and pomp of the baroque period. With the wigs carefully powdered, it is the velvet sound of the harpsichord or another time the exult melodies of phat synths or sublime choirs that illuminate contemporary dance-music in new splendor. So give yourselves into the hands of three baroque gentlemen and let them take you on a journey into the magic of love, the devils temptation and the melancholia of longing.
